31 employees indicated reactive after rapid test, BMKG Office Closed for a Week

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency or BMKG closed its head office in the Kemayoran area, Central Jakarta, for a week from August 13 until August 20, 2020.

This decision was taken because dozens of Covid-19 reactive employees were found after undergoing a rapid test.

“To break the chain of the spread of Covid-19, the steps taken are to temporarily close the office and carry out WFH (work from home) for one week. All head office employees maintain their productivity, which is reported digitally, routinely, and in stages,” wrote a press release from BMKG.

The head of the Kemayoran Buana community health center (Puskesmas) confirmed the reports of the rapid test results of 31 employees of the BMKG were reactive.

The rapid test was conducted on 113 people on Wednesday, August 12, at the BMKG office, Jalan Angkasa, Central Jakarta, as part of “Active Case Finding” (ACF).

“We encourage those who are reactive to isolate independently,” said Buana, Thursday, August 13.

BMKG has also followed up on the results of the rapid test with a swab test. “Just waiting for the results”, he said.

BMKG Public Relations Head Taufan Maulana said that his party had indeed routinely conducted rapid tests on its employees during the COVID-19 pandemic in the capital.

“We will continue to carry out routine Covid-19 tests as before in an effort to monitor and manage work.”

During the temporarily closed, BMKG ensures that services continue to run normally. Weather forecast and early warning information services will continue to be maintained and spread to the community digitally in real-time, through the Internet of Things (IoT) system which has been operating at BMKG.
