A live-action ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ film is in the works

This time, though, the Vikings and dragons will be brought to life on the big screen in a live-action film.

The live-action big screen adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon, which was created by DreamWorks Animation, has been given the go-ahead by Universal Pictures.

On Thursday, February 16, Variety published an article stating that Dean Deblois will be involved in the project once again in the roles of writer, director, and producer. The first installment, How to Train Your Dragon, was released in 2010, followed by How to Train Your Dragon 2 in 2014, and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World will be released in 2019. He directed all three films in the animated trilogy.

The premiere date of the live-action film, which does not yet have a title, is set for March 14, 2025. Further information, such as the specifics of the narrative and the actors involved, has not yet been disclosed.

How to Train Your Dragon is an animated film that is based on a series of novels written by Cressida Cowell. The film recounts the adventures of a young Viking named Hiccup (whose voice is provided by Jay Baruchel), who meets an injured rare Night Fury dragon and names him Toothless. Together, they work to combat the negative perceptions that people have of dragons.

The critically acclaimed animation property has also given rise to three television series: DreamWorks Dragons, Rescue Riders, and The Nine Realms. All of these shows are animated.
