china conducts military drills near taiwan following rising tensions

On Monday China started military exercises close to Taiwan after Lai Ching-te kept promoting the separation of Taiwan from China. Beijing labeled this military action a disciplinary measure that made the Taiwan Strait situation more intense.

Taiwan’s defense ministry revealed that 54 warplanes including J-10 fighter aircraft and drones entered Taiwan’s airspace. The aircraft passed near Taiwan’s south through northern, western, southwestern, and eastern directions with 42 planes flying through the official Taiwan Strait division. Taiwanese forces moved their air and naval assets into action to watch all Chinese military movements.

According to the Taiwan Affairs Office in China, the Lai administration will face ruin when it attempts to provoke or use military power. Beijing continues to state its willingness to use armed force to seize Taiwan which manages its democracy as an independent nation.

The Mainland Affairs Council in Taiwan strongly criticized Beijing’s moves and labeled the Chinese Communist Party a “disorder campaigner” for harming peace in the region. The council asked other countries in the alliance to create defenses against Chinese military growth. Taiwan’s security experts observed China now conducts practice drills around the island every week and a half to increase its military power in the area.

Taiwanese President Lai stated that China now conducts more and deeper influence operations in Taiwan. He repeated that Taiwanese citizens alone hold the power to choose their destiny while remaining open to dialogue with China but this offer has not been accepted before.
