KOTA KINABALU – With the rise of Covid-19 cases in the state, Sabah will be tightening its standard operating procedures (SOPs) including limiting the number of people gathering to a maximum of 150.

Sabah State Health Department reported an increased number of  Covid-19 cases from July 25 to August 4. From 384 to 402 cases.

Chief minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal also noted that the number of cases being treated in the hospital increased fourfold. He added that the state government view this as a serious matter and should be dealt with to avoid the pandemic from getting worse.

The authorities were asked to step up and strictly enforced the SOPs including requiring people to wear face mask in public and regularly washing their hands with water and soap and hand sanitizers while practicing social distancing.

Business buildings are also required to limit the number of customers depending on the size of the area and must ensure separate entrances and exits.

Mass gatherings shall also be limited to 150 people with a maximum period of three hours. The government are also asking the local government to extend random testing and not just testing certain high-risk groups.
