According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Monday, workers who will be in duty during the anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution, a special non-working holiday, will receive proper payment of wages.
In an advisory, DOLE stated that those who will report on February 25 for work are entitled to an additional 30 percent of their basic salary within the first eight hours.
Nevertheless, the concept of’ no job, no pay’ shall apply if an employee chooses to take the holiday off’ unless there is a beneficial company policy, rule or collective bargaining agreement (CBA) authorizing payment on a particular day.’ In the meantime, if the special non-working holiday occurs on the rest day of the worker, the employee will receive an additional 50 percent of their basic salary on the first day of the worker’s rest. An extra 30 percent of their hourly rate is also owed for their overtime work.
Pursuant to Proclamation No. 845, s, 25 February is one of nine special non-working days for 2020. 2019 Unpublished by Malacañang.
