The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has officially extended enormous financial aid to Filipino government workers and pensioners. The state pension fund has officially doubled the initial benefit of its ongoing economic relief initiative, “Balik Ginhawa,” in line with the national government’s ongoing economic relief efforts. As a direct cash refund, you may now be able to recover as much as six months of eligible loan amortizations.

If you are searching to grab this timely financial cushion, you don’t have to stand in a line in the actual branch. The whole of the application process is completely digital. Applying for the extended 6-months GSIS Balik Ginhawa refund is a simple process with the official GSIS Touch App. Here’s how you can do it.

What is the Enhanced GSIS Balik Ginhawa 2 Program?

Balik Ginhawa program (internally known as Balik Ginhawa 2) is a modified loan moratorium program. The GSIS doesn’t cancel out your monthly deduction from your paycheck, which can create a problem with agency systems and may be confusing, but it does pay the cash equivalent of up to six payments directly into your account.

The enhanced application period is from July 1 to Oct. 31, 2026, the Philippine News Agency said in its official announcement. It applies to loan payments that are made from December 2025 through May 2026.

Important Rule on Prior Claims: If you already received a 3-month refund under the first phase of the program, that amount will be deducted from your total. However, you can still claim the remaining three extra months offered under this enhanced 2026 rollout.

Key Benefits of the 2026 Moratorium:

  • Zero Penalties: The refunded months are deemed as covered by the moratorium under the law. They are not considered arrears of loan or unpaid obligations.
  • No Added Interest: Your underlying loan term is lengthened by the equal number of months you are getting back, without any interest.
  • Quick disbursement: Once the refund is approved, it will be credited back to your bank account or your UMID cards within three working days.

FAQs

Will claiming the 6-month refund negatively affect my GSIS credit score?

No. The Balik Ginhawa program is an official sanction, modified loan moratorium, so your accounts will remain in good standing. The months that you are refunded will not count as unpaid months as this will not incur any penalties or negative marks to your record.

What should I do if the “Loan Moratorium Through Refund” option is missing in my app?

Make sure your application is up to date. It may be that your accounts don’t meet the criteria for the exemption, or your agency simply hasn’t processed your remittances yet. Live contribution records are available to check directly on the “Records” tab of the app.

How much money will I get back in my account?

The dollar refund will be the actual monthly amortizations paid between December 2025 and May 2026, up to six months, minus the amount of any previous payments received in the initial period of the program.
