Imelda Schweighart, a Filipino-German beauty queen born in 1995, began her career in Binibining Pilipinas 2013, where she reached the Top 15. She represented Puerto Princesa in Miss Philippines Earth 2016, winning the crown from her predecessor Angelina Ong before moving on to the international competition. During her Miss Earth 2016 participation, she earned the title “Darling of the Press,” but did not place, making it the third time the Philippines did not secure a placement there.
Schweighart’s Miss Earth reign ended suddenly when she resigned due to claims of “pageant bullying” by “vicious women,” which made headlines. Loren Artajos took over as Miss Philippines Earth, resulting in a shorter title for Imelda. Despite the negative events, she viewed it as a “collision of light and shadow,” which strengthened her passion for pageantry.
A decade later, in 2026, Schweighart returned to represent Kalibo, Aklan, in Miss Universe Philippines 2026. She is one of 51 delegates competing against Ahtisa Manalo’s successor. The event will take place at SM Mall of Asia Arena on May 1. She aims to win the Miss Universe crown in Puerto Rico this November. Her story shows resilience and has captivated fans in the Philippines, which has a strong pageant tradition, including Pia Wurtzbach’s 2015 win. This journey demonstrates Schweighart’s growth from controversy to comeback queen, highlighting the ongoing appeal of pageantry.
