Help each other in the midst of a pandemic is needed. The Indonesian diaspora spread all over the world made the Family to Family (DPFF) Diaspora Care program. The target is for workers who get termination of employment (PHK).
The Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauzyiah said that the Indonesian diaspora will provide donation assistance for formal and informal workers who have been laid off.
“Today I am proud of the diaspora to launch Diaspora Care, an activity that collects donations from the diaspora to help our brothers in the country affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, especially those who were laid off or laid off,” Ida said via Video Conference, Jakarta, Monday, May 18.
Diaspora, which Indonesian citizens abroad will contribute US $ 50 or the equivalent of Rp. 700,000 / month (exchange rate of Rp. 14,000) to each of the laid-off workers in Indonesia.
Indonesian Diaspora Network founder Dino Patti Djalal explained, initially this was only intended to help one family in need. However, the definition of family is broadened and adjusted to the factual economic conditions of potential recipients of donations. Namely, workers affected by layoffs due to Covid-19.
“This is a form of solidarity among overseas diaspora families for families in the country who most need it,” he said during a video conference with Menaker Ida Fauziyah and dozens of Indonesian diaspora.
Dino explained, there are at least 6-8 million members of the worldwide diaspora who can be invited to donate through this program.
“Our target is above 5,000 recipients,” said the former Indonesian Ambassador to the United States.
Diaspora families who want to provide assistance can later access the profiles of prospective recipients on the website www.diasporapeduli.id.
Dino explained that they would use the database in the Pre-Work Card program. So clearly, those who will be given assistance are those who really need it.
While the distribution of assistance will be done through BNI to the beneficiary’s account.
