Zaidi Sharif, the director of MRL’s Strategies Division, stated that 500 people out of a total of 1,800 had participated in the first phase of the program, which began in 2018 and included the construction phase.
He said the program provided a variety of training options, including skills training in areas such as operating heavy machinery, electrical and surveying, and so on, in addition to the construction field.
“During their first month of training, the trainees will be dispatched to East Coast skill development centers, and during their second month, they will get hands-on trainings at ECRL construction sites.”
“We expect that local adolescents, especially those on the East Coast, would quickly decide to participate in the program since they will get technical training and a job thereafter.”
He told this to the reporters during the ECRL Open House, which was also attended by Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob and MRL Infra director Nor Rizan Md Akhir.
According to Zaidi, the 500 people who finished the training program have obtained employment, with a starting pay of RM1,800 and a potential income of RM2,500.
He said that the program participants were also provided RM300 per month in training allowance and for the practical session, but that the amount provided relied on the location of the training center and construction site, apart from MRL and CCCC bearing the expenses of training, food, and lodging.
“We are seeking 3,200 trainees for the operations side of the program, which will begin within the next two or three years and last until 2025.” “Because the project is still underway, there are numerous employment openings.” Youths interested in participating in this program must be at least 18 years old and able to read, write, and count,” he noted.
