Netflix’s Philippines has introduced its 2026 slate, which marks ten years since establishing a presence in the region. This includes five original series and films, three are series and two are movies created with the intention of appealing both locally and globally. The announcement was made at a February press conference. The projects will feature popular actors such as Kathryn Bernardo, Anne Curtis and Kyle Echarri among others. There will also be a diverse selection of genres available, including romantic comedies and dystopian thrillers.
Leading the pack is 18th Rose, a nostalgic rom-com directed by Dolly Dulu, starring Kyle Echarri and Xyriel Manabat as high school sweethearts in 2000s Romblon streaming April 9. Action fans get BuyBust: The Undesirables, expanding the hit franchise with high-stakes raids. Series includes a dystopian action epic, chilling horror-mystery, and family drama, all showcasing Filipino resilience and emotion.
Last year, over 90% of Netflix PH users watched local materials, and there were over 32 titles with a spot on the Global Top 10, proving that Filipino stories attract a worldwide audience. Vitto said that he is very excited about expanding connections through partnerships such as their deal with ABS-CBN for the Revenge Rom-Drama Someone, Someday, that includes many prominent actors (including A-list celebrities). Overall, Vitto believes this is a great way to reinvent genres such as romance, mystery, drama and so forth through a more creative approach in order for Netflix to become a go-to place for creative Pinoy Videos.
These originals root in Filipino culture while scaling up production for international eyes, marking Netflix PH’s evolution from global importer to local powerhouse. Expect more announcements as the platform bets big on diverse voices.
