Muhyiddin said that the government will consider easing some restrictions now that Covid-19 has shown a reduction in recent weeks.

“Although the numbers have shown positive outcome, steps that we have been taking have to continue until a time when we are confident that the COVID-19 pandemic is completely under control,” The PM said in a televised address.

According to the prime minister, the statistics has shown that 63% of the cumulative number of patients have recovered and continues to show a sharp decrease in the number of cases.

“Although the numbers have shown positive outcome, steps that we have been taking have to continue until a time when we are confident that the COVID-19 pandemic is completely under control,” Malaysia PM said

Several areas with a growing number of positive cases were placed under an enhanced MCO, which further restricted the resident’s movement.

Although there are still a possibility that the movement control order will be further extended beyond May 12, the government are looking to relax in few sectors for the economy to recover. The latest extension will put the country for a total of 56 days trying to containt the spread of the infection.
