Supplementary Budget Bill Passed With Majority in Japan’s House of Councillors

The House of Councillors Budget Committee took place on December 17, 2024 (Tuesday) with the Budget Bill of 13.9 trillion yen  for this fiscal year being passed at the house and it received the majority votes from pivotal political parties. This meeting ended with a question and answer session between PM Ishiba and other members of councillors.

The bill passed in the afternoon, followed by the address of a member of Liberal Democratic Party, Jimitaka who enforced the significance of the bill by underscoring the current deflationary economy of Japan which looks more critical for the past three months.

“To create a positive flow for April next year, it is essential that the supplementary budget bill be passed and implemented swiftly”, he added.

The member of CDP praised the PM Ishiba for accepting the request of their party which is something new in the history of Japan.

PM Ishiba

PM Ishiba answered the questions during the session after the bill in cabinet.

“Serious discussions will be between the ruling and opposition parties by the end of March, but we believe that disclosure is better than a ban about what is truly in the interest of democracy.”

“I would like the government to study this thoroughly and consider whether we can create a legal system that gives the greatest possible respect to the rights and human rights of babies.” – This was the answer by PM Ishiba regarding the question raised regarding the legislation of ‘Confidential Childbirth’.

This bill primarily focuses on the economic challenges and subsidies to uplift the lifestyle of the citizens of Japan.
