The Philippines were able to take advantage of the mistakes made by the Thai side in the second set. Gumabao and Domingo worked together to keep the Philippines in the lead until Galanza provided the decisive kill to tie the match at one set apiece.

Gumabao resumed her impressive offensive play in the third set by serving a pair of aces in quick succession, which gave the Philippines an early lead of 7-4.

Thanacha Sooksod and Chatchu-on Moksri were the ones who were responsible for Thailand erasing the early advantage that the Philippines had thanks to the fact that they gradually ramped up the pace throughout the second set.

Thailand finished the third set with a 5-0 run and never looked back as it controlled the fourth salvo, where it went into the second technical timeout with a large 16-5 edge over its opponent. Thailand won the match.

Pimpichaya Kokram contributed 14 points for Thailand, who will play China in the semifinals. Chatchu-on scored 21 points for Thailand throughout the game.

On the other hand, the Philippines will go right back into the thick of things as they will play Australia in a classification game this coming Sunday, August 28.
