4,000 Factory workers at SoKor’s Daegu City Bite Virus

Last updated on May 6th, 2021 at 08:52 am

According to the Philippine Embassy in Seoul on Tuesday, the health of about 4,000 Filipino factory workers in South Korea’s Daegu City is being prioritized by their employers in the face of the increasing number of cases of coronavirus disease in 2019 (COVID-19).

According to De Jesus, Korean employers also distribute face masks and ensure that work spaces aren’t too crowded to prevent possible virus transmission.

The reported COVID-19 cases in South Korea were at 833 as of Tuesday morning, of which seven were fatal. Japan and South Korea have the highest number of reported cases of new coronavirus infection outside of China from where the virus originated.

In South Korea, De Jesus reiterated that there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus infection among Filipinos.

However he urged those with COVID-19 symptoms to contact the Korea Center for Disease Control and Prevention at hotline 1339 immediately.

Though the Philippines has not placed any travel restrictions on South Korea, as a precautionary measure, he said, Filipino tourists were advised to postpone non-essential trips.
