Who is Akinori Yokouchi, the New Manager of Montedio Yamagata!?

The new manager of Montedio Yamagata will take charge of the team from 28 June 2025, and this appointment is expected to bring seasoned leadership and has the experience in an effective promotion to the squad. Akinori is widely known for his tactical discipline, and the ability to build a consistent form. So, his arrival is observed as an added energy for the excellent team performance to deliver stabilized results to push their spot in the top-tier J2 League.

Akinori Yokouchi – The Man of Legacy

The luminous leader, Akinori was born in 1967 and he began his career as a professional journey as a midfielder with Sanfrecce Hiroshima from 1986 to 1995. Then he decided to step down from his shoes as a player and transformed his career as a successful coach in 1996 and excelled in leading the team for over two decades at Hiroshima. There he contributed to the significant wins in J1 League of the team in 2012, 2013 and 2015. 

Yokouchi was named as the J2 League Manager of the Year 2023 to lead Jubilo Iwata flawlessly during that tournament. In every step of his career as a player, coach and the manager he stands unique with his leadership and the nuances of player management & development. With the aim of uplifting the performance of the club ‘Montedio Yamagata’ in J2 League, Yokouchi has been appointed as the manager in June 2025.
