K-Pop Artists Take 7 Of 10 Spots On U.S. 2022 Best-Selling CDs

K-pop ruled the top-selling CD albums in the United States last year!

The American music data tracking company Luminate (previously MRC Data), which provides data for the Billboard charts, announced their year-end list of the best-selling CDs of 2022 on 11 January local time.

On the list ranking CD sales exclusively (excluding digital download albums and other formats), K-pop artists held an impressive seven of the top ten positions. BTS, TXT, Stray Kids, TWICE, ENHYPEN, and NCT 127 were the six K-pop artists who made the 2022 list.

With 413,000 copies sold, “Proof” by BTS was the best-selling CD album by a group or male artist in the United States in 2022, and the second-best-selling CD overall, following Taylor Swift’s “Midnights.”

Meanwhile, “minisode 2: Thursday’s Child” by TXT was the third best-selling CD of the year in the United States, selling 227,000 copies.

Notably, Stray Kids was the only artist to hit the top 10 twice: their short albums “ODDINARY” and “MAXIDENT” placed fifth and seventh, respectively, with 204,000 and 177,000 CDs sold, respectively.

The only girl group to make the chart, TWICE debuted at No. 6 with “BETWEEN 1&2,” which sold 199,000 copies.

“MANIFESTO: DAY 1” by ENHYPEN reached No. 8 on the list with 173,000 CDs sold, while “2 Baddies” by NCT 127 closed out the top 10 with 148,000 CDs sold in the United States last year.
