Khairuddin to be summoned at an ‘appropriate time’ over roadblock incident

The police has not yet taken any statement from Datuk Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali who is the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister in conjunction with an incident that occurred on May 16 where Aman Razali was stopped at a roadblock.

A Malaysian Malay-language daily newspaper reported today that Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department deputy director (Investigation and Legal) Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said that the statement will be taken from Khairuddin at “an appropriate time”.

Meanwhile, he allegedly said that the statements coming from the police officers who were involved in the roadblock incident had already been recorded.

According to the daily newspaper, he said that they have already opened the investigation paper and that they have first spoken with the involved police personnel. After which they will have to summon all the parties involved for questioning.

Sapri also added that given the current situation which is in the middle of an extensive movement control order (MCO), summoning Khairuddin should be done at an appropriate time.

Last week, the police has also given confirmation that they had indeed stopped Khairrudin on May 16 during a roadblock in Perasing, Kemaman in Terengganu.

Reports say that a woman who is an entrepreneur with specialty in tudung and is also identified to be an ex-wife of a prominent actor was travelling with him.

However, details as to what offense Khairuddin was guilty of remains ambiguous and that only limited police information regarding the matter has been made known.

It was said that this is not even the first time Khairuddin has violated laws that has been put into place in conjunction with the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).  He was previously caught to have violated his mandatory home quarantine order after returning from Sabah last July and was faced with a RM1,000 fine after a long investigation.
