Kuala Lumpur is entering the active stages of history today, the KL Festival 2026 officially marks the beginning on May 6. The historic centre of the city will become a gigantic outdoor stage consisting of performances, installations and community-related experiences over a period of 26 days.
This citywide event is on until May 31 and will include more than 80 diverse and curated events across 25 iconic locations. The best part is, approximately 90 percent of these activities are totally free and hence one of the most accessed festivals in southeast Asia this year.
The theme of the festival is Memory and Tomorrow, uniting the rich history of Kuala Lumpur with the recent artistic expression. Using traditional storytelling and futuristic installations, the event reinvents the way in which people perceive the city.
