KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Police has reached out to the Hong Kong autorities in its 1MDB investigation including the hunt for Jho Low, the alleged brains behind the billion-dollar scandal.

According to the Malaysian Police, they have sent the letter and other information to their Hong Kong counterparts to assist with the probe. Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said that its not just Jho low but 4 or 5 others that the authorities can’t get because of restrictions.

Malaysia also sought help from Interpol to find Low Taek Jho aka “Jho Low” to extradite it back to the country and face allegations linked to his alleged role in the state fund.

1MDB has sparked investigations into the money laundering involving billions of dollars.

Abdul Hamid said that according to source, Jho Low is currently in the jurisdiction with which Malaysia has an extradition treaty. Currently, Jho Low is traveling freely, with trips to the following countries — Cambodia, Thailand, Macau and Hong Kong. Abdul Hamid also revealed that Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil, former CEO of 1MDB unit SRC International Sdn,  is currently in Hong Kong with his family.
