The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, has said that voters in the upcoming six state elections can reject those politicians who are cruel to the people.
Malaysia’s Prime Minister said, “If I betray the people, reject me. If I do not take care of the Malaysians, reject me. If I take the people’s money, take the people’s land, then reject me.” He further said that the people should reject the cruel government.
While delivering a speech at the ‘Kita Hulu Kelang with PMX’ programme at Padang Rumah Pangsa PKNS AU2, Taman Keramat, on Friday, the prime minister claimed that he never provided special allowances to his wife or children during his tenure as the country’s prime minister.
The Malaysian politician, who is also Pakatan Harapan chairman, said that some opposition leaders started campaigning for the upcoming state elections without good manners and moral values. He said that people should evaluate negative behaviours of the politician during the state polls on August 12.
Anwar Ibrahim, who is also a Tambun Member of Parliament, expressed hope that the voters would vote for candidates from the Pakatan and Barisan Nasional unity during the state polls.
The event on Friday was also attended by Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari, the Menteri Besar of Selangor, and Megat Zulkarnain Omardin, a Member of the Dewan Negara and the chairman of Selangor UMNO (United Malays National Organisation).
Selangor Umno chairman Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin is among Barisan’s 12 candidates that will contest in Selangor in the upcoming election. He is the Gombak Setia candidate.
Earlier this month, Democratic Action Party (DAP), one of the component parties of the Pakatan Harapan coalition, said that it would contest in all their incumbent seats in Penang.
Anthony Loke, the secretary-general of DAP, said, “We will contest in all the seats that were won by DAP in the previous elections.”
