Travel Update: Qatar Airways Resumes Daily Flights to Dubai and Sharjah Today; Damascus Service Returns May 1

The Middle East travel corridor is opening sooner than anticipated as Qatar Airways officially opened important routes in the region on April 23, 2026. This move is a big step towards reestablishing normal air connectivity that has been hampered in recent times and relief is set to be seen among business travelers and tourists.

The move by the airline to reintroduce flights to the United Arab Emirates and Syria on a daily basis, is part of a broader strategy to reuse its global network. To travellers within and outside Asia, this is a positive indicator of facilitation of leading transit destinations and the increased ease over the international networks in the near future.

Flights to UAE are resumed

Currently, Qatar Airways has restored daily services to Doha and two of the major destinations of the UAE, including Dubai and Sharjah. This is especially of note since previous estimates had indicated a later recovery, hence the speedy recovery came as a welcome boost to the frequent fliers.

The Doha- Dubai route, which is among the busiest in the region, is particularly important in business travel and tourism. On the resumption of these flights, the passengers will be once again assured of smooth connectivity between Qatar and the UAE, and beyond, to Europe, Asia and North America through the Hamad International Airport.

Damascus Flights Will resume May 1

Besides the UAE flights, Qatar Airways has also ensured planes will fly daily to Damascus beginning May 1, 2026. This is a major move towards bringing Syria back to key air routes in the world.

This route is anticipated to gain beneficiaries to not only humanitarian travel but also diasporas and reestablishing a primary interconnection in the airline network of the Middle East. It also indicates how slowly air travel is being normalized throughout the region.

Larger Global Network Recovery

The resumes of these routes are not unplugged updates, but a progression in a plan of restoration dotted around by Qatar Airways. The airline has already declared its proposal to extend its activities to over 150 destinations all over the world by mid 2026.

This growth is a measure of the increase in the number of people willing to undertake international journeys, and an indication that regional airspace is unlikely to deteriorate. More routes reopening will mean more flight options and greater likelihood of greater flexibility in scheduling, as more routes reopen.

Flexible Booking Policies

To assist the passengers in this transition period, Qatar Airways has come up with flexible travel policies within the eligible bookings. Customers who hold previously booked tickets containing a date of travel between February 28th and September 15th, 2026 will be able to amend their date without incurring extra charges.

Also, the passengers will also be able to claim a refund on unused tickets though it will require a few weeks. These are aimed at reassurance and flexibility with ongoing flight schedules normalizing.

It also entails lower fares, better availability, and convenience among travellers intending to travel in the foreseeable future. Nevertheless, passengers are encouraged to stream schedules frequently, since they can change owing to operational or regulatory control.
