Shoulder injury sidelines Stephen Curry for weeks

ESPN reported on Thursday, December 15 that Golden State superstar guard Stephen Curry may miss a few weeks due to a left shoulder injury sustained during Wednesday night’s game (Friday, December 16, Manila time).

Curry has a labral injury and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, as reported by The Athletic on Thursday night.

Curry was injured while attempting a steal in the third quarter of the Warriors’ defeat against the Indiana Pacers. He left and never returned.

According to Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, Curry will get an MRI on Thursday.

This will be the first time that Curry has missed multiple games this season.

Even though he played just 30 minutes, Curry scored a game-high 38 points in Wednesday night’s defeat despite playing only 30 minutes. In the 125-119 defeat, he contributed 7 rebounds and 7 assists. At the moment of his injury, the Warriors were down 93-80.

Curry, who is 34 years old, is having another MVP-caliber season. He is now averaging 30.0 points per game, which, if maintained, would record only his third season of averaging 30 or more points per game. He averaged 30.1 points per game in 2015-2016, winning him the first of two straight MVP medals, and 32.0 points per game in 2020-2021.

He is shooting 50% from the field, which is considerably over his career average of 47.4%, and 43.4% from beyond the arc, which is also above his career average of 42.8%.

Despite all of this, the Warriors enter Friday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers with a 14-15 record.
