A man who has not been identified can be seen in a video that was posted online brandishing what appears to be a shotgun, according to a statement that was released by the police the day before yesterday. The police said that they were made aware of this information on the previous Saturday at approximately ten in the morning.
Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and the Woodlands Police Division conducted follow-up investigations and ground inquiries in order to determine the identities of the 19-year-old guy shown in the video as well as the 21-year-old man who had put it online.
“Initial inquiries showed that the item in question was a plastic replica of a pistol. Investigations by the police are still going on. An image of a guy holding what looks to be a shotgun can be seen in a video that was shared on the Instagram page for Singapore incidents. The man is seen standing in the middle of the road while wearing dark-colored jeans and a T-shirt.
The footage seemed to have been captured as the camera was moving about inside of a moving truck in what appeared to be an industrial area. There was no information provided about the location or the time when the video was shot.
Yesterday, the police reiterated that anybody who creates public panic runs the risk of being charged with an offense punishable under Section 4(2) of the Protection from Harassment Act 2014, which was passed in 2014.
