Umno will host its general assembly in March 2021, says Ahmad Maslan

Malaysia – According to Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, whos is the Umno secretary general, the 2021 General Assembly would take place over four days and will be starting on March 16.

He also noted that the general assembly will be conducted in a physical set up with the attendance of 14 delegates from the different wings of every division, which has been approved by the Supreme Council in its last meeting that is headed by president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at Menara Dato Onn last night.

He said that in accordance with the SOPs (standard operating procedures), each and every one of the delegates coming from each wing of the party shall attend their respective general meetings.

“The first day (March 16) will see the inauguration of the Umno Women, Youth, and Puteri general assemblies, followed by the wings’ general assembly on March 17,” he said in a statement following the meeting.

On March 18, the party’s president will make his policy statement and begin the general assembly, that will stretch through its last day, which is on March 19, according to Ahmad.

Umno decided in December of last year to postpone its 2021 General Assembly, which was scheduled for January 13-15.

The postponement was made owing to the flood calamity that had hit several locations, prompting grassroots umno leaders to offer assistance to flood victims.

The Supreme Council also pledged support for Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as Prime Minister, Ahmad added, adding that this support will be enhanced.

“In addition, the Umno Supreme Council agreed to make all necessary measures to guarantee that the party caters to 18-year-old and new voters.”

He added that the assembly also became a platform for them to express gratitude to all Umno members and leaders at all levels who volunteered to assist the flood victims.
