A major enhancement of the public transport connectivity is coming to the western corridor of the Klang Valley. The long-awaited LRT3 Shah Alam Line is set to fully go into commercial operations on June 29, 2026, confirmed Transport Minister Anthony Loke. Before the public launch, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be in attendance to officiate the grand launch at the main depot of the line on Sunday, June 28.

The new driverless 37.8-kilometre-long LRT3 Shah Alam Line is fully automated and will cut the commuting time for more than two million people in the Shah Alam corridor between Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, and Klang. 

Active Infrastructure: The 20 Active Stations Opening in June

The first rollout of the sky blue transport system is to be limited to a network of 20 stations and will be in use. The sky-blue transport network will have a limited network of 20 active stations when it is first launched. Operational blueprints by Prasarana Malaysia Berhad reveal that five more “in-fill” stations, namely Tropicana, Temasya, Raja Muda, Bukit Raja Selatan, and Bandar Botanik, are to be opened by 2028 to meet the needs of newly developed real estate.

  • Glenmarie 2 (SA07): Provides a direct link to the LRT Kelana Jaya Line, making it easier for commuters to travel directly to KL Sentral, Bangsar, and KLCC with just one change of train.
  • Jambatan Kota (SA20): It is located within the convenient pedestrian area around Klang KTM Komuter station, connecting the new KTM line to the old KTM line to Klang.

The project also provides special Park-and-Ride facilities to encourage local drivers to ride the rail. The project also provides special Park-and-Ride facilities to ease congestion on the heavily choked Federal Highway. 

Where to Park

There are 2,300 vehicle parking bays at six main stations, which are all covered by 24-hour surveillance cameras, according to The Star reporting. These Park-and-Ride lots are available for use by commuters at:

  2. Damansara Idaman
  3. Pasar Klang
  4. Seri Andalas
  5. Bandar Bukit Tinggi
  6. Johan Setia

The line also allows passengers to access major educational centres such as UiTM, Shah Alam, as well as major healthcare centres such as Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR) from the Taman Selatan station, which is a first without the need to travel through traffic.
