Amidst the combat against pandemic, China has expressed support for Indonesia to become a regional hub for the production of COVID-19 vaccines and is upbeat about both nations contributing to human health growth.

The cooperation in the development of the COVID-19 vaccine between the two nations reflects the mutual trust in the establishment of practical and strategic cooperation, he pointed out. China is therefore prepared to reinforce cooperation (with Indonesia) in the fields of vaccine research and development, production, and procurement.

The country had also invited Indonesia recently to work together to assist developing nations and Islamic countries to ensure that the COVID-19 vaccine was available at reasonable prices. The declaration was made by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to the issuance of a halal certificate for the Sinovac vaccine by the Indonesian Ulema Council.

In view of this, Sinovac Biotech Ltd is gaining greater trust in its vaccine, especially following the delivery of the COVID-19 vaccine to the Indonesian Head of State, which has attracted the attention of individuals not only in Indonesia but also in different countries.

The event also came under the Chinese media spotlight. Weidong noted that the Sinovac vaccine, which is currently in the third phase of a clinical trial in Brazil, Turkey and Indonesia, had different effects, depending on the condition of the individuals in the three countries. He reported that the vaccine is 91.3% effective in Turkey, 78% in China, and 65.3% in Indonesia.

Along with this, the president urged the Indonesians, despite the launch of the COVID-19 vaccination program, to always take into account the strict implementation of health protocols. Jokowi got the first injection of the country’s vaccine at Merdeka Palace. Abdul Muthalib, Deputy Chief of the Presidential Medical Team, injected the Sinovac vaccine.

Morever, The vaccination against COVID-19 is necessary for us to break the coronavirus transmission chain and provide health and safety protection for all of us, the citizens of Indonesia, and to help accelerate economic recovery.
