In Abu Dhabi, King meets with the country’s new president

MalaysiaMalaysia – Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah met with President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, at Mushrif Place in Abu Dhabi.

His Majesty was welcomed by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to Comptroller of the Royal Household for Istana Negara Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin.

“During the nearly hour-long face-to-face meeting, His Majesty conveyed his condolences to the President and the UAE government, and congratulated Sheikh Mohamed Zayed Al Nahyan on his appointment as the new President and head of state of the UAE,” he stated in a statement posted on the official Istana Negara Facebook page.

Ahmad Fadil noted that the King also expressed his sorrow at the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the former president of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Abu Dhabi, and hoped that Allah SWT would bless him and put him among the faithful.

He said that the King saw Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s death as a major loss for UAE people and other Arab countries, and expressed his hope that his family would be strong in the face of such a tragedy.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujarah, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Syarjah, Sheikh Sultan Al Mohamed Al Qasimi, and other UAE Cabinet officials attended the meeting.

His Majesty’s entourage at Mushrif Place, according to Ahmad Fadil, comprised Comptroller of the Royal Household for Istana Negara Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, Foreign Ministry Chief of Protocol Datuk Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah, and Malaysian Government Chief Protocol Officer Datuk Rozainor Ramli.

He said that Malaysia and the UAE have extremely warm and strong bilateral connections at all levels, including between leaders and their people, and that the King believes the present relationships should be strengthened, particularly in economic, commercial, and investment areas.

“His Majesty’s visit to Abu Dhabi was at Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s personal invitation,” he continued.

Other heads of state paid their tributes to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and met with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the Mushrif Palace.
