Instant noodle shop, an odd popularity among Thai teenagers

Thailand – Instant noodles may seem an odd culinary sensation in Thailand, which is a nation known for its flavorful, spicy cuisine and street food.

For teens like Ratchadaporn Krongngam, however, a shop that sells over 70 different varieties of instant noodles from all around Asia and also lets you make them and eat them right away is a really unforgettable experience.

About thousands of young consumers have browsed the bright orange shelves of Good Noodle for noodles that came from Indonesia, South Korea, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong since it debuted in a Bangkok mall last October.

According to the 18-year-old Ratchadaporn, it was already the third time that he visited the store.

“I liked being here because I wanted to try out new and various varieties of instant noodles to see how they all taste,” he added

Customers often eat at the shop, where they may prepare their own three-minute meal for 6 to 250 baht (RM0.75–RM31).

Because of their flavor, adaptability, convenience, and cheap price, instant noodles are very popular in various Asian nations. However, health experts advise against eating too much highly processed food since it lacks essential nutrients.

During the pandemic, Ungkool Wongkolthoot, the managing director of the noodle shop, claimed that he combed through the convenience shops and supermarkets in Bangkok to search for all of the various varieties of instant noodles he could locate, which ended up to be more than 350 varieties.

He then recognized this as a commercial opportunity.

“I wanted to provide the clients with an immediate noodle sensation.  It’s not simply purchasing noodles from other convenience shops or supermarkets and then forgetting about them at home,” he said.
