A statement from the Malaysian Embassy in Warsaw, Poland, said that the student was among the other Malaysians there and that they will be returned to the nation shortly after the announcement has been made.
Following the announcement made by the Russian President Vladimir Putin of a special military operation in the Donbas area of eastern Ukraine on Thursday (February 24), Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proclaimed a statewide state of emergency.
Ukraine has also stated that its airspace would be closed to the general public due to a “high danger” to civil aviation.
In recent events, Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah wrote on Twitter that nine Malaysians and their two dependents had been safely transported out of Kyiv and had arrived in Poland.
Whereas, regarding the Malaysian students who are studying in Russia, the KPT has said that they would continue to attend their respective colleges especially since the distance between the campuses and the conflict zones was considerable.
The KPT also said that it will be in constant contact with the Malaysian Embassy in each of the nations concerned in order to get the most up to date information on the present situation and any future action that may be necessary.
In addition to that, the statement also said that the ministry, via the Education Malaysia (EML) office in London, will continue to follow recent developments in the situation in order to protect the safety of the students.
According to them, the parents can contact Lukman Zulkifly at the EML at 00442079851251 or the KPT operations room at 03-8870 6777/6949/6623/6628 if they have any questions or concerns about the status of their children.
