NCAA Season 96 will open in November

MANILA – The National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) is considering to delay the opening of Season 96 to November due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The collegiate competition that usually opens in July, NCAA Management Committee chairman Peter Cayco said that this year they have discussed the possibility of the season being delayed to as late as November or even December depending on the situation of the current health crisis.

“We may even be into the ‘Ber’ monthwhen we start the season. Maybe we could start at the end of November or in December,” Cayco said in an phone interview with the Inquirer.

Season 95 was effectively canceled in March after the Inter-Agency Task Force has put sport under sectors that cannot operate in line with the general enhanced quarantine currently being implemented in Metro Manila. The ECQ is expected to end on May 15. Colegio de San Juan de Letran will serve as the host of Season 96. Incoming chairman Fr. Vic Calvo, OP will be working with Jose Rizal University’s Paul Supan to come up with contingecy plan for the upcoming season.
