On September 16, 2026, Samsung officially launched the One UI 9 update to its Galaxy S26, S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra for Galaxy devices. The update, which is based on Android 17, brings in extensive Galaxy AI features, more personalized options, privacy controls, and enhanced camera capabilities. There’s one thing with the Philippine Galaxy that has to be noted, however, and that is the lack of some features, such as Scam Detection, in the Philippines as listed by Samsung.

One UI 9 Features for Philippine Galaxy Users

The most recent One UI 9 is more about making Galaxy phones understand the situation and less about a visual revamp.

The rollout will be gradual, Samsung states, and may not come to all the Galaxy models supported for the time being, so availability will be region, carrier and software version dependent.

Key additions include:

  • Galaxy AI improvements
  • My FanCam video reframing
  • Enhanced Photo Assist
  • Customizable Now Brief
  • Now Nudge contextual suggestions
  • Improved Privacy Alerts
  • Security information through Security Brief
  • Better document scanning and Voice Recorder summaries

Galaxy AI Gets More Context-Aware

Contextual support is one of the major features of One UI 9 Galaxy AI. With now Nudge can recommend actions to take based on what the user is doing, such as displaying the availability of a room for reservation or assisting in saving a shared location, instead having the user switch between apps.

Brief also gains greater flexibility in terms of editing and generating cards to personalize everyday information on topics like weather, health and video.

Availability of features may differ depending on countries, device model, OS version and carrier as indicated in Samsung’s Galaxy Ai page at Philippines.

One UI 9 Scam Detection: Is It Available in the Philippines?

Samsung’s announcement on September 16th mentions that Scam Detection is expanding to more countries and languages, but it also states the following countries in its current note regarding availability: Japan, Canada and India. The Philippines is not included in that list.

Thus, Philippine Galaxy users shouldn’t expect that the same as they update to One UI 9, the scam detection feature would be enabled.

The purpose of the feature is to detect and give an alert for possible scam calls. According to Samsung’s support documentation, Scam Detection is available on supported Galaxy devices running Android 16 and One UI 8.5 or later and is available in regions.

One UI 9 Camera Upgrades: My FanCam and Photo Assist

The One UI 9 camera upgrades are particularly interesting for people who regularly record concerts, family events, sports or social-media videos.

My FanCam Keeps Your Subject in Focus

With My FanCam, users are able to capture a broader shot and then choose a person to track. Galaxy AI then recrops the video around that person, producing a video that is more about the subject and doesn’t need much manual cropping.

Samsung has also carried over My FanCam into the Galaxy S26 FE, going beyond the all-new foldables.

Photo Assist Makes Editing Simpler

For compatible Galaxy users, Photo Assist enables them to use natural language to describe edits. Users no longer need to use multiple editing controls to navigate: They can simply say what they want to change and Galaxy AI will help them with the edit. Availability is subject to Samsung’s device, region and language restrictions.
