The extension of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) from November 9 to December 6, the trial of the Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor corruption case at the High Court here, which was scheduled to proceed today, has been postponed to 11th of December.

Earlier this month, when the CMCO was extended to November 9, the graft case hearing was delayed. When approached by The Edge Financial Daily, the Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Akram Gharib confirmed the deferral.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission investigative officer, Noornabilah Mohd Azman being cross-examined by Rosmah’s defense team headed by Datuk Jagjit Singh and Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader, the bribery trial reaches its final stage. The Former education minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid, who is the fifth witness of the prosecution, was also expected to be further interviewed by the defense in addition to the MACC IO.

“Yes, the trial before [High Court Judge] Justice Mohamed Zaini Mazlan has been deferred until Dec 11,” Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Ahmad Akram said.

Former federal court judge Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram is leading the defense in Rosmah’s courtroom. As previously stated, the court will also hear the application by the prosecution to provide as testimony in court an audio recording of the alleged communication between Rosmah Mansor and her husband, former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

In return for helping Jepak Holdings secure an RM1.25 billion project to provide solar energy to 369 rural schools in Sarawak, Rosmah, 69, faces a charge of soliciting RM187.5 million and two counts of obtaining a combined RM6.5 million bribe from Saidi, through her former assistant, Datuk Rizal Mansor. The crimes were reportedly performed between January 2016 and September 2017 at Lygon Cafe, Sunway Putra Mall, Jalan Putra; Rosmah’s residence at Jalan Langgak Duta, Taman Duta; and Seri Perdana, Precinct 10, Putrajaya.
