Taiwan extends visa-free travel for Filipinos until July 2021

MANILA – The government of Taiwan has confirmed that it will be extending itsvisa-free entry for Filipinos from August 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021.

According to the statement released by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), it said that visa-free privilege for Filipinos will be extended for another year and will also continue for citizens of Thailand, Brunei and Russia.

The agency however reiterated that travel restrictions are still in place due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Upon entering the country, all foreign nationals are required to provide certificate of a negative COVID-19 test taken within three days prior to arriving and will be required to undergo 14-day home quarantine period.

According to the MOFA, visa-free travel program for tourists were implemented in an effort to revive tourism will the decline of Chinese tourists entering the country in past couple of years.

Last year, The Taiwan’s National Immigration Agency revealed that around 100.37% increased of Filipino tourist alone were recorded by the agency. Taiwan has been recognized globally in supporting other countries on their fight against the coronavirus pandemic and setting the bar in combatting the health crisis.
