Typhoon to bring intense rain towards the Philippine

METRO MANILA PHILIPPINE – As Typhoon Rolly roars in the country today, The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration warns that it could intensify into a super typhoon that will bring destructive wind and heavy rains in Metro Manila and parts of Luzon this weekend.
Typhoon Rolly or International name Goni, is expected to pack maximum sustained winds of 175 to 195 kilometers per hour when it makes landfall over Aurora Quezon tomorow night or Monday.
According to Pagasa’s Raymond Ordinario, the agency is not ruling out the possibility that they Typhoon would reach a super typhoon category as it continue to gather strength as it approaches the Luzon island.
The US Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) is expecting the typhoon to reach 240 kph maximum sustained winds while over the sea.
As of 4 p.m. yesterday, the storm is located just below 1,000 km east of Aurora province with maximum winds of 185 kph. The typhoon is predicted to move west at 20kph.
Tropical Signal No. 1 was raised over the Catanduanes province as of yesterday. PAGASA sent out a notice to the coastal areas of Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, Bicol region and Northern Samar for a possible storm surges.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) urged the public to brace for a strong impact of the Typhoon Rolly. DILG Secretary Eduardo Año has ordered the local government units to prepare for pre-evacuation before the storm hits. All mayors and governors should be present in their area or they will be facing possible sanctions.
