Binutulu MP closes down leisure outlet proprietors for violating SOP

Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing claimed that these proprietors of entertainment outlets in Bintulu has been breaking curfew hours through closing down their shutters but still serving their customers and as a direct consequence of their SOP violation, he has shut their businesses down.

According to Tiong, these outlets has been famous for breaking the SOP which stipulates that operating hours are only until 10pm to put a stop to the spread of Covid-19.

He also indicated that there were some confirmed cases of Covid-19 that have been traced back to these businesses and so, the public has been complaining against them.

The outlets have failed to comply with the SOP being implemented by the authorities and are ignoring the true condition of the world and their city amidst this pandemic.

In a statement he has given, he is urging all business operators and proprietors in all sectors in Bintulu to work together with the authorities in preventing the Covid-19 from spreading further. Otherwise, the consequence of violating the protocols will be carried through together with the intervention of the police during the patrols as he will be personally request them to do so.

He added that the enforcement officers has the right and the power to temporarily stop the business from its operations or even to revoke their business licenses as well as to force their way in, in the event that they were to be suspected violating the SOP.

Tiong said that so as to achieve the right control of the Covid-19 that is getting out of hand especially in Bintulu, they need to implement strict and tight measures to handle the offenders.

We’re now on a situation where people cannot be careless. There must be strict compliance to the SOP so we can ensure the safety of the people in order to battle this extreme level of pandemic. Tiong directly called out to the violators that it is in ensuring everyone’s safety that the economy can recover, thus, it is in these circumstances that they need to comply with the authorities who will implement strict conditional movement control order even though it will be inconvenient for people.
