After Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, Denmark’s Queen tests positive for COVID

The Danish Royal Court has confirmed that Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has tested positive for Covid-19 for the second time in 2022.

After receiving the diagnosis on Tuesday evening, Queen Margrethe II decided to cancel all of her scheduled events for the rest of this week.

On Monday, there were 2,000 people in attendance for the official burial for Queen Elizabeth II. The monarch, who is 82 years old, was one of those visitors.

Since the death of the British monarch, she has held the position of head of state longer than any other European leader.

Both she and Queen Elizabeth shared a common ancestor in the form of Queen Victoria, making them third cousins.

The vaccination against COVID that Queen Margrethe has received resulted in a positive test for the disease in February of this year, when she had only minor symptoms.

A representative for the palace said in a statement that it will be on the website that she would be recovering at Fredensborg Palace, which is located to the north of Copenhagen.

Her son and heir, Crown Prince Frederik, and his wife Mary, the Crown Princess, will take her place in hosting a reception in Copenhagen on Friday for members of the Danish government, the Danish parliament, and Danish members of the European Parliament.

In recent days, Queen Margrethe was seen attending a number of ceremonies in London that were held to mourn the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

At Westminster Hall on Sunday, the day before the funeral for the late Queen, she paid her respects at the lying-in-state with the crown prince. This took place on the eve of the funeral.

She sat in the same area as kings from other European nations the following day when she attended the service at Westminster Abbey. These monarchs were King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Prince Albert II of Monaco, and King Philippe of Belgium.

She said the following in a letter of condolence to King Charles on the occasion of his mother’s passing: “She was a towering figure among European monarchs and a great inspiration to us all.” King Charles is the current King of the United Kingdom.

After her father, King Frederick IX, passed away in 1972 when she was 32 years old, she ascended to the throne and became queen.
