Director General Ismail Abd Muttalib, Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government has declared that his support for Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is “firm and clear,” and that he was among the first to state his stance on the matter.

The Maran (Pahang) MP stated that he supported the PM because the country is dealing with the Covid-19 epidemic and an uncertain economy, both of which must be prioritized for the welfare of the people.

According to him, by right, there should not be overpoliticking to the point that they lose sight of assisting people in dealing with the current circumstances. This is why he have backed the Prime Minister in his efforts to serve the people, since his aim during his four terms in Parliament have always been to serve the people.

He said that he has no objections on the issue of the legality of the Perikatan Nasional government being brought in Parliament in order to reach a decision, since his position is clear. He added that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has in fact ordered that the subject be decided in Parliament.

Ismail told reporters this when met at the Community Vaccine Mobilisation (Movak) initiative at Felda Jengka 3 here, which featured five adapted buses that will serve as mobile vaccination centers (PPV).

Ismail further stated that his support for the Prime Minister does not imply that he has changed as an UMNO member, and that party members who shared his view had no plans to dissolve the party despite being regarded as opposing UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He explained that his complete support for the Prime Minister and the government of the day is the same as it was for Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad when they were prime ministers formerly, adding that this is their work, and it must be politicized and that what counts is that they serve for the sake of the people, religion, race, and nation. In a remark, he also said that he support the Pahang administration because he know they do a lot of excellent things for the people.
