Federal and state leaders demand strict observance of SOPs

The federal along with the state leaders have called on the public to strictly follow SOPs especially during the celebrations of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri which begins today (May 13).

Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who is the International Trade and Industry Minister has stated in his special address that as they are celebrating the Hari Raya, they should also look after their health and make sure that they and their family members are adhering to the SOPs as well as practicing effective hygiene in their own homes.

Meanwhile, National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique has advised the public to observe the wearing of face masks and physical distancing whenever and wherever they are.

Even though visiting a family member or returning to their hometown is not allowed to make sure that SOPs are maintained given the circumstances, Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said that the people could still use the online platform to do their greetings.

“Although Syawal (the month of Aidilfitri) has to be celebrated at a time when the country and the world is still hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, at least it can still be celebrated in a peaceful and safe manner,” said Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Seri

Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad of Johor also called on the people to be careful in following the SOPs while inviting them to take the opportunity of strengthening relational ties by forgiving each other.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has also given a similar message saying that the protocols were imposed for a reason and that the decision was to ensure the safety of the public.

While Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said that the priority among the people should be to stay safe, in line with the teachings of the religion.

The Kedah Mentri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor also conveyed the same words advising the people to celebrate under the new norms while making sure to abide by the SOP.

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali stated that the government issued orders were never meant to spoil the cheer of the celebration but for the purpose of putting the Covid-19 situation under control.

The Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail also hopes that people of Pahang would remain having perseverance in this fight against the Covid-19 while adding that it is still possible to have a positive outcome as long as all of the parties are cooperating.

“Muslims must continue to strive, pray and trust in Allah, and not give up in the test we face due to the Covid-19 pandemic”, Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad said in his Hari Raya message. Whereas, Negeri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has expressed his appreciation for the frontliners for sacrificing in order to ensure the safety of the public amidst the current situation.
